The Philippine Government, particularly the Department of Interior and Local Government, Bureau of Fire Protection and the Bureau of Product Standards among other agencies in the Philippine Government should investigate extensively and intensely, why MERALCO is negligent in providing safe power service in the BF Homes community.
For many years, the high fluctuation and incredible power surge of the erratic power supply suffered unwitting homeowners high electric bills and repeated decimation of household as well as other electronic appliances. In Quezon City or in any other area in Metro Manila each time there is power fluctuation, the automatic voltage regulator (AVR) alerts you by giving off a slow tick-tock sound, then stops.
In BF Homes, when power fluctuates, the sound you hear is similar to the sound of players performing the Tinikling dance. The significant difference from the sounds the dance players produce is that the tick-tock sound is so rapid that it beats a secretary typing on an ancient Olivetti typewriter at the speed of 4000 words per minute. Electric appliances go on and off, in some cases, circuit breakers have exploded and the danger of fire has threatened many homes in BF. In years of residing at BF, one can lose so many appliances not due to wear and tear, but through the MERALCO power fluctuation and powerful surge arising from this up-down behavior of the electric power supply.
What is the BF Homes Board of Directors doing about this? Nothing, not since the first time this kind of phenomenon ever came about. No one is complaining to anyone. In a visit to a pharma company at BF Homes, when the power started making the lights go off and on, the head of that company started shouting in a panicked voice: “SHUT DOWN THE AIRCONS! SHUT DOWN THE AIRCONS!” The owner explained that if the newly purchased tonner airconditioning units are not turned off, they will break down immediately. This owner lamented that his company lost too many appliances because of the power fluctuation in BF.
Does the owner not have anyone to complain to? Why does he have to panic every time power fluctuates like crazy? Isn’t there a solution to stop MERALCO from giving such bad service? Are they not accountable to the public they serve and to their share holders who should be shame faced if houses burn, properties get devastated and people die?
If lives are lost eventually, who will be criminally liable? Not the BF Homes Board of Directors who are enjoying their perks and happily living lives of contented cows as the Leaders of a Community of Respected Citizens That Has Gone Down the Drain.
